Tenkara is the simplest way of fly fishing, is an ancient Japanese method, that uses only a rod, line, and fly, no reel. Tenkara performs extremely well in mountain streams and rivers, where the long rod and light line provide the best possible fly presentation.

We tested Tenkara in a variety of waters, rivers, Pyrenean lakes, ponds, and even salt water with awesome results. A lot of species can be caught on Tenkara rods, the main is trout, but we also use it for barbel, carp, largemouth bass, and in salt water for mullet and several rockfish species close to the shore.

Tenkara is the ideal setup for anyone looking for an intuitive and fun way to fly fishing, something to take along on a bike or backpacking fishing trip, or for teaching kids the basics of fly fishing, without the complexities.
